President Downing completes report on Kosovo lignite mine.

The Government of Kosovo is taking preparatory actions to involuntarily displace over 7000 people to make way for an open pit lignite mine as part of the Kosovo Power Project (KPP). Ted was invited by Kosovo Civil Society to determine whether this preparation comply with the international involuntary resettlement standards (OP 4.12, PS5, PR5, OECD, and Equator Principles) that must be met for the project to obtain international financing? This report finds it does not.

Spanish Translation of MMDA

The Mining Law Committee of the International Bar Association released a Spanish translation of the Model Mining Development Agreement which is now available at www.mmdaproject.org. The translation was undertaken by Chilean lawyer Maria de los Angeles Perez and the translation review was done by Quinzio & Cia Abogados in Santiago, Chile.
